Understanding risk is at the heart of all these issues, and utilities are often the first to take up and use new risk management techniques. Risk Solutions was founded to take the methods developed in the nuclear industry and apply them more widely, and many of our consultants have over 20 years experience in nuclear and conventional electricity generation; oil and gas; and industrial process safety. Our work in the sector focuses on strategic decision making under conditions of uncertainty, and understanding and modelling the risks associated with building, operating, maintaining and decommissioning physical assets. We take a bespoke approach to each assignment, and tend to get involved when something ‘off the shelf’ is not going to be adequate.
